This week we are high-fiving FiTONIC’s Athlete Spotlight: Kristin McGee! You may have seen her on Live with Kelly and Ryan, Good Morning America, The Today Show or one of your favorite yoga or pilates videos! Kristin’s career has been centered on making yogo more accessible and in this interview, she shares how yoga (and fitness!) has changed her life.
What is your fave way to train (running, yoga, CrossFit, weightlifting, dancing…)?
How did that become your thing?
I discovered it in the early 90’s when I was an acting student and completely fell in love with it!
How has training physically changed you mentally or emotionally?
It’s helped me find my inner guide, trust my own body, develop strength I never knew, and now I can regulate my emotions and go with the flow!
What is still hard for you about your training, fitness or nutrition?
Handstands..they are soo challenging for me.
What is the mantra in your head that you hear most often when you train?
Everything you could possibly ever want, have, or need is right here inside of you.
What do you love most about your body?
My smile! But I also love my arms because they support me in so many things, have gotten so strong and defined, carry my boys and give great hugs!
If you have worked with a coach, what’s the most important lesson you learned from that person?
That alignment is key to success in everything.
What is your fave nutrition tip?
Eat when you’re hungry, stop when you’re full….pretty much learn to listen to your own body’s cues.
If you could tell only one thing to every woman who is struggling in her fitness journey, what would that be?
NEVER GIVE UP, success is just around the corner. Just when you feel you need to quit, the magic happens.
What goal are you going to crush next??
Pressing up to handstand that’s for sure! As well as learning how to keep healing my diastasis and helping other women do the same.
