This week we are high-fiving FiTONIC’s Athlete Spotlight: Heather Burnett. Heather talks about how her love for music, the difficulty of staying away from chocolate and how her perceptions on what healthy were changed as she lost weight. She encourages us to not be too hard on ourselves and give ourselves grace in the journey. We are so thankful for Heather’s input and we give her a huge high-five!
What is your fave way to train (running, yoga, CrossFit, weightlifting, dancing…)?
Dancing-but to keep from looking like an idiot I mostly walk/run/repeat!
How did that become your thing?
I find music incredibly motivating. As long as I have a solid playlist I’m good!
How has training physically changed you mentally or emotionally?
Exercising makes me feel immediately better. The endorphins are slightly addicting!
What is still hard for you about your training, fitness or nutrition?
Staying away from chocolate!
What is the mantra in your head that you hear most often when you train?
What do you love most about your body?
I’m healthy and strong. I wanted to be skinny when I was overweight. When I finally lost (all 90 pounds) I realized skinny wasn’t strong.
What is your fave nutrition tip?
All of them! I geek out about fitness & nutrition so it’s hard for me to choose one! Drink water! Stay away from processed foods! Don’t eat your feelings!
If you could tell only one thing to every woman who is struggling in her fitness journey, what would that be?
Aim for healthy & give yourself time & grace.
What goal are you going to crush next??
I’m going to school to be a Health Coach! I’m super stoked!
BIG thank you to Heather for being our FiTONIC’s Athlete Spotlight!
